My review

In the fifth book, Dante finds himself in an even stranger world, which seems to make no sense. In addition, he suffers from amnesia and does not know who the ones are who belong to him. Who else can he trust? He keeps coming through several gates. How is he supposed to find his way home? And will he come in time to save the fifth soul from the hands of the devil. To restore balance, Dante must endure many trials and suffer great losses. How will he ever get his friends back from the clutches of the demons? He loses his mother again. It’s really depressing.

I found this story a bit long-winded because there seems to be no light in the darkness of this strange magical world. Still, I could sympathize with Dante and feel how depressing it must be to be always a few steps too late. Fortunately, in the end there was a little light again. I want to read book 6 to find out how he gets his lost friends back.

I gave this book four stars.

Mijn recensie in het Nederlands

In het vijfde boek komt Dante in een nog veel vreemdere wereld terecht, waar niets mee te begrijpen lijkt. Bovendien krijgt hij te maken met geheugenverlies en weet hij niet wie degenen zijn die bij hem horen. Wie kan hij nog vertrouwen? Steeds komt hij weer door een andere poort en vindt hij zich weer in een vreemde situatie. Hoe moet hij de weg naar huis zien te vinden? En komt hij nog wel op tijd om de vijfde ziel te redden uit de handen van de duivel. Om het evenwicht te herstellen moet Dante veel beproevingen doorstaan en lijdt hij grote verliezen. Hoe krijgt hij zijn vrienden ooit nog terug uit de klauwen van de demonen. Weer raakt hij zijn moeder kwijt. Het is om de pressief van te worden.

Ik vond dit verhaal wat langdradig omdat er maar geen lichtpunt in het duister van deze vreemde magische wereld schijnt te komen. Toch kon ik wel met Dante meeleven en voelen hoe deprimerend het moest zijn om steeds een paar stappen te laat te komen. Gelukkig was er aan het einde weer een beetje licht. Ik ga gauw doorlezen in boek 6 om te weten hoe hij zijn verloren vrienden terughaalt.

Ik gaf dit boek vier sterren.
